Winter-Like Conditions Expected this Weekend

Winter-like conditions will be possible for middle Tennessee this weekend.  A freeze warning is in effect for Friday and Saturday night.  Temperatures will drop to around the freezing mark in Nashville and upper 20s outside the metro area.  Saturday night will be even colder with temperatures dropping as low as the mid-20s outside the metro.  Breezy NW winds will add to the chill.  Bring plants and pets indoors for the weekend and make sure outdoor vegetation is protected as well.In addition to the cold, rain showers along the Cumberland Plateau will change over to light snow overnight.

  Breathtaking beauty along the Natchez Trace.  Jackson Falls is one of many hiking destinations just outside Franklin.

   Others enjoy this national parkway for biking and this view of the landmark double arched bridge from  Birdsong Hollow.

  There are also plenty of camp sites along the 444 scenic route.

  Open mic night in Leiper's Fork on Thursdays is another free hit for lots of young talent or those who want to be entertained.  Kids are frequently behind the mic singing their little hearts out.  Just show up and sign up. 

   There's also a little picking corner with lots of vintage instruments where you can often catch locals and celebrities alike in impromptu play.

   Want to get smarter this spring break? Try the Stones River National Battlefield in Murfreesboro with its living  history programs and national cemetery.
    It offers nine miles of trail through the battlefield itself. 

  One more walk through history takes us to the Tennessee State Museum. What a gem.
   It offers guests hours of fun learning about Tennessee artifacts like this dugout canoe the early settlers used.  It's  one of just a couple left.
   There are lots of military relics and special sections devoted to Tennessee legends like Andrew Jackson, James K Polk, Daniel Boone and  Davy Crockett.
