Independence HS Inspiration Hunter Garstin Returns Home Today

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

FRANKLIN, Tenn.-- Independence High School inspiration Hunter Garstin is coming home today.

Garstin has battled back from a spinal cord injury after dislocating a disk in his neck during a wrestling match in December of last year. The injury left him paralyzed, but through intense therapy and drive, Garstin was able to regain use of his arms and legs.

Although there is more road to travel, Garstin has had no shortage of support. Friends and family continue to send him support through the Facebook page "Prayers for Hunter" and the hash tag #HunterStrong was created for use on Twitter.

Hunter has spent the last several months at a recovery center in Atlanta which specializes in spinal cord injuries and now returns home. The outpouring of support from the community has helped contribute to his recovery and make renovations to the family home which made it more accessible. Now the family is hoping the support continues.

Fox 17 will be on scene for Hunters arrival at the entrance of the Sullivan Farms neighborhood at the corner of Lewisburg Pike and Donelson Creek Pkwy. The family is asking supporters to line up, bring signs and make lots of noise as he drives into the neighborhood. If you are unable to attend, a LIVE Stream of his return will be on YouTube at about 5:30pm CST and we will also air his return tonight on FOX 17 News at 9 & 10pm.
