Fatal Rutherford County Hit-and-run Suspect Out of Jail, Mass for Victim

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

The woman who left the scene of a fatal hit-and-run in Rutherford County yesterday is out of jail.

Tina L. Wilson, 33, of Murfreesboro, was arrested for leaving the scene of an accident with bodily injury on Thursday on I-24 in Smyrna. She was released from jail on $5,000 bond at 12:30 a.m. Friday, according to the jail.

According to police, Wilson, who had a passenger with her in the car, was on her way to Addiction Medicine Clinic (AMC), a drug counseling center in south Nashville.

The victim, 13-year-old Clifton Braunwalder, son of Norbert and Sondra, of Lascassas, died after being hit by the car driven by Wilson alongside the interstate while changing a tire with his mom and sister there, say police.

There is a special mass Friday morning scheduled for Braunwalder of Lascassas at Saint Rose Lima Parish in Murfreesboro at 8:15 a.m.

The family sent FOX 17 pictures of Clifton, who is homeschooled. His sister says he was a sweet young man who was strong in his faith and had a smile and a joke for everyone. She says he was involved in sports, Boy Scouts, and serving the community. He will be greatly missed, she finished.
