Report: Nashville Among Lowest Income Inequality Gaps for Blacks & Whites

According to the National Urban League's "State of Black America" report on income inequality, Nashville is among the cities where black-white Income Index gap is the narrowest. According to a Bloomberg report, Nashville joins Phoenix and Columbia (SC) where incomes are less skewed. 

The gap was biggest in Minneapolis and St. Paul in Minnesota, showing an average income of $28,744 for African-Americans compared to $71,376 for white residents. The report also says minorities are lagging behind whites in underemployment. African-Americans had an underemployment rate of 20.5% while Latinos were slightly better at 18.4 percent. 11.8% of whites were reportedly underemployed.
