More Than 3 Oz. of Pot Discovered in Car's Spare Tire Compartment During Traffic Stop

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A traffic stop leads to Metro police confiscating more than 3 ounces of marijuana.

The suspect ran from Metro police after the 1 p.m. traffic stop on Saturday on Rivergate Parkway near Macy's. Police say in their report that 19-year-old Christopher Payne ran across lanes of heavy traffic while discarding a plastic baggie containing several pills.

Meanwhile, back at the car, police discovered 3.4 oz. of pot in the rear spare tire compartment. Police also seized $2,700 on Payne.

Payne is being held on $42,000 bond at the Davidson County Jail.
