NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A blood trail leads straight to suspect in north Nashville motel stabbing.

Metro police responded to a man stabbed with life-threatening injuries outside the Hallmark Inn on the 200 block of West Trinity Lane at around 6:30 p.m. Saturday. They found the victim laying on the sidewalk with a stab wound to his left side, the police report says.

A blood trail led police from the victim to room 202. There they found 49-year-old Robert Mitchell with blood on his shirt. Police say he confessed to the stabbing.

Mitchell is in jail on $350,000 bond.
