Springfield Police Charge Man with Attempted First-Degree Murder

Springfield police charged a man on Tuesday with criminal attempt to commit first-degree murder and unlawful possession of a weapon after he turned himself in to police, according to a department press release.

Alan Jermaine Gardner, age 39, turned himself in Monday. He was booked into Robertson County Jail.

On Sunday at 1:55 a.m., police responded to shots fired at the El Alteno restaurant on Tom Austin Highway. While checking the area, police received a call informing them that a shooting victim was seeking care at Northcrest ER.

The victim, Brandon Gardner, 27, of Springfield, was airlifted to Vanderbilt with life-threatening injuries, having been shot multiple times.

It was not yet clear what connection the victim has to the suspect.
