Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-- 22 individuals have been indicted for a multi-state heroin ring which includes the state of Tennessee.

ATF, Metro Police and the U.S. District Attorney were all on-hand for the announcement. The resurgence of heroin has increased distribution of the drug throughout the country stated investigators.

The ring operated out of Nashville and was connected to a source in Los Angeles. The Nashville ring distributed to St. Louis, Missouri and Florence, Alabama. The heroin was sold and cut with Fentanyl causing two deaths and two non-fatal overdoses to citizens in Alabama. Despite knowing the use of Fentanyl was causing people to die, the head of the drug ring stated "Welcome to the H Game."

Fentanyl, a cancer drug for pain, is 100-times more potent than heroin. One kilo of heroin is estimated to be selling for $80K on the street. The dealers are alleged to have used the Fentanyl to further the bulk of heroin and create more profitablilty. Investigators also stated those buying the drug were not necessarily aware Fentanyl was in the heroin purchased.

21 one of the 22 individuals have been arrested. One is currently a fugitive, believed to be here in Nashville. Darnell Finnels, 24, goes by the street name of "Ski" and is believed to be armed and dangerous. The suspects are also charged with using firearms to further the distribution of the drugs.
