24-year-old Motorcyclist Critical after Crash in Whites Creek Area

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- A 24-year-old motorcyclist is fighting for his life after after crashing in the Whites Creek area.

The 9 p.m. accident Sunday closed the eastbound lanes of I-24 between Brick Church Pike and Old Hickory Boulevard until 3 a.m. The male rider is at Vanderbilt Medical Center with critical injuries after hitting a guardrail and being thrown from the bike, according to Metro police.

The motorcyclist's helmet was found in a ditch. No other vehicles are involved.

Police say the cause of the crash is failure to maintain lane of travel.
