On Saturday around 8:30 p.m., police say Krentkowski allegedly dragged his mother's 15-year-old dog out of a bedroom and began to kick it. When his 53-year-old mother told Krentkowski to stop, he tried to strangle her and struck her head with a bookcase, injuring her, according to sheriff's police.

Krentkowski then continued to physically assault the dog, causing its death, according to the investigation. Krentkowski was arrested Sunday. His next court date is scheduled for June 26 at the Bridgeview courthouse.
