Woman Sentenced in Murder of Daughter After Son Also Found Killed

"It was like some twisted, baby-killing Bonnie and Clyde." Prosecutors had that to say about Krissy Lynn Werntz and Jason Michael Hann. Wertz was sentenced to 15 years to life for the 2001 murder of her 10-week-old daughter. The girl's remains were found in an Arkansas storage unit, which Werntz is believed to have hid after Hann killed her. Hann has already been convicted of murder for causing the fatal injuries which took the child's life.

According to The Desert Sun, Werntz hid the child's remains in a plastic storage container inside a trailer at an Arkansas storage unit. After police found the body of the first child, they found the body of their two month old son in a different storage unit located in Arizona. Police believe the baby died in Vermont and that Werntz and Hann, 39, trekked around the country with the remains in a plastic bin before renting the Arizona unit, Riverside County prosecutors said this week.

During the investigation, authorities also found the couple's third child, a 1-month-old boy, alive but suffering from a dozen broken ribs and retinal hemorrhaging -- signs of child abuse.

Hann was convicted of Montana's murder in 2013 and sentenced to death earlier this year.

He was also convicted of second-degree murder in Vermont for the infant boy's death and sentenced to 27 to 30 years in prison. Werntz was not charged in the infant boy's death.
