President Obama Delivers Stern Statement to Russia

President Obama delivered an update to the situation in Ukraine on Monday, following the crash of Malaysia Airlines flight MH 17 last week.

President Obama stated it has been four days since the flight was shot down, adding "our hearts have been absolutely broken" following the reports of families and children killed on the flight.

Obama says Russian-backed separatists continue to block the investigation, noting that when investigators arrived to the scene, separatists fired into the air and have been  removing bodies from the crash site. President Obama also pointed the finger directly at President Putin for "urging" separatists on and training them, saying Russia has "direct responsibility."

On a broader note, he said if Russia continues to violate Ukraine's sovereignty then Russia will only continue to isolate themselves from the international community and the costs for their behavior will "continue to increase."

Aside from his comments on the crash in Ukraine, President Obama also added Secretary of State John Kerry was headed to Egypt in an effort to quell the crisis in Israel between Israeli forces and Hamas. Kerry is hoping to broker a cease-fire agreement in hopes of avoiding any more casualties. The conflict there has reportedly claimed 520 lives thus far.
