Sylvan Park Neighbors Divided Over Controversial Issue; Team Pink vs. Team Green -- Meagan O'Halloran

Stream Fox 17 newscasts LIVE starting with TN Mornings at 5 am and News at 9 pm.

SYLVAN PARK- A historic West Nashville neighborhood is divided on if and how the city should step in and preserve it. Residents took to Wednesday nights Metro Council meeting to stand their groundboth for and against the current preservation overlay proposal. Those for the bill wore green arm bands and are pushing to keep their historic neighborhood the way it is. Team Green thinks new developments standing side-by-side their older homes will destroy the neighborhoods historic value. Those in opposition of the bill have been referred to as Team Pink. Team Pink residents are known for sporting pink flamingos in their yards and wore watching t-shirts to Wednesday nights meeting. Opponents are worried the bill will infringe on their property rights.

Councilman Jason Holleman introduced the bill and suspended it indefinitely. In the meantime, Holleman hopes both sides will agree to meet together for brainstorming sessions and try to come up with some kind of compromise before the bill is re-introduced to Metro Council.
