Wife of Victim in Murder-Suicide Speaks Out -- Mikayla Lewis

Mystery surrounding a deadly shooting at a rest stop on the Tennessee-Kentucky border still remains. Jamie Plymel died sitting in his car, and talking to his wife on the phone. Investigators says James Roames was a complete stranger, and killed the 40-year-old. Roames then turned the gun on himself.

Fox 17 did a complete background check on the accused shooter, and found the 30-year-old has no criminal record.

Plymel's wife says she and her husband just bought a house. Plymel traveled often for work, and was on his way to business meetings when he was killed. The couple spent several days together right before.

Stacy Plymel says they were on the phone, talking about their new home when her husband was killed. She says she heard Roames ask her husband to turn off his headlights. When he said he couldn't because they were automatic, she heard a commotion. Her husband then told her he had been shot.

Stacy Plymel says, "You could hear the pain in his voice, and I am not sure that he could have said much more. He was by personality a very methodical individual. He was very alert and he always very aware of his surroundings and that is what is so surprising about this."

Jamie Plymel is being rememered as a good father and husband.

His funeral is tomorrow in Murfreesboro. Tune into Fox 17 Saturday at ( P.M. for a special report on the couple's love story.
