The victim of the Kentucky rest stop murder suicide was laid to rest on Saturday.

Jamie Plymel's funeral was held in Murfreesboro, after he was shot by James Roames earlier this week.

Stacy Plymel explains how she met her husband, Jamie Plymel and the moment that changed their future at the Kentucky Welcome Center.

Talking on the phone became one of the main ways jamie and stacy Plymel connected as he traveled for work.  They always ended the conversation with "I love you".  Jamie Plymel was an avid outdoorsman who retired from the Navy.

The couple celebrated their one anniversary last month.  Stacy Plymel said they never had a honeymoon or a real weekend alone, until this past weekend.

The Plymer's went to dinner in Cool Springs before he headed off to a business meeting in Kentucky.  He called at 8:26pm  and an hour later Jamie stopped at the Kentucky Welcome Center.  Stacy herd a mans voice say hey turn you lights off.

Plymel says her husband told the man he couldn't because the headlights were automatic.  After a brief commotion Jamie told his wife that he had been shot.

Kentucky state police said 39 year old James Roames shot Jamie Plymel before turning the gun on himself.  The motive of the shooting remains unknown.

Stacy Plymel never got to see her husband again.
