NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- Cars were zooming, but a pack of stray dogs just inches away were just lying there, unafraid, and Metro Animal Control says that's causing something of a traffic problem on an already busy road.

"[Friday] alone we received roughly around 12 complaints," said Rebecca Morris, department spokesperson.  "It was noted that the animals were attempting to cross rosa parks so it was causing something of a traffic issue."

The dogs live behind the fast food restaurants on Rosa Parks and Vantage Way, where concerned families bring them food, water, even doghouses.

Animal Control says that might help the dogs survive the night, but it's hurting the department's efforts to get the dogs off the street.

"Unfortunately, we have not been able to apprehend them and one of those reasons could be because they're providing food and shelter, Morris said.  "It's very difficult to catch the animals in a trap if they're being cared for.

The department also put out traps for the dogs but someone tampered with them, Morris said.
