Heavy Traffic Expected Around Williamson County Fair -- Kai Beech

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 5am and News at 9pm.

Sitting in traffic near the Williamson County Fair can leave drivers with a sour taste.

It took Richard Cockman a lot longer to get from Donaldson to Franklin Friday.

It should of took 30 minutes, he said. But it took about an hour and half.

The extra time stuck in traffic made Cockman a half hour late for work at the fair and left him frustrated behind the wheel.

Especially after I already pulled a 10-hour day doing my other job, he said.

While frustrating now, this traffic is just the clam before the storm; the perfect storm.

I-65 always has traffic problems during rush hour, fair officials said. Now combine that with nearby construction and the 250,000 people expected to come to this year's fair and that's recipe for a lot of traffic.

To help free up I-65 traffic, Williamson County Sheriffs recommend taking different routes to the fair.

But for Cockman, all this middle Tennessee traffic reminds him of a different place.

Im a relocater from Atlanta Georgia, he said. And this is getting there real quick.
