Convicted Police Officer Killer Unlikely to be Paroled

Stream WZTV Fox 17 Newscasts LIVE starting with Fox 17 This Morning at 4:30am and News at 9pm.

A man convicted of killing a Metro police officer in the 1970s is up for parole, but the chairman of Tennessee's Parole Board has already voted against releasing him.

In 1976, Officer George Hall responded to car burglaries near Percy Priest Lake. That's when Gentry shot and killed him.

Police Chief Steve Anderson and the Fraternal Order of Police do not think Gentry should be granted parole. Other parole board members still have to weigh in.
