SMYRNA, Tenn. -- A man died Thursday after he had been shot several times in Smyrna, according to a press release from the Smyrna Police Department.

Police received a report at 7 a.m. Thursday of a shooting on Kings Road. When they arrived they found the victim, Danny Wright, 46, who had been shot multiple times. He was transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died from his injuries.

The suspect in the incident is described as a black male, wearing dark clothes, and was also described as being tall and skinny. After the shooting, the suspect fled the scene in a late model tan or white sedan.

While investigators work to build a case, neighbors hope the suspect doesn't come back.

"We're just hoping that whoever it was had got caught because  none of us wants to be hurt  by whoever it was," said Teresa McGowan, who lives across the street.

Smyrna Police are working many leads at this time and are asking the public for any information that they might have relating to this crime. Please contact Det. Rick Hall at 459-6644 with any additional information.
