The small City of Berry Hill will soon get a lot bigger.

“We expect to be somewhere between 1,500 people maybe as many as 2,000 people in the next five years,” said Joe C. Baker, City of Berry Hill city manager.

That's a huge increase for this small city whose population has hovered around 540 full-time residents for the past several years. This recent increase in people is linked to the construction of several massive residential units.

“Before we were mainly single family residences,” baker said. “Now we're seeing more multi-family developments in the Melrose area on Franklin Pike.”

And this population push is good news for businesses looking to cash in.

“The lunch rush is usually packed slammed out the door,” said Jason Matlock, an employee at The Urban Juicer.

Matlock added that a new and unique blend of people moving into this area has changed better hill for the better.

“It’s definitely diverse; all different types of people,” he said. “I can’t wait to see what happens. It’s just a new Nashville.”
