State Unemployment Up, Davidson Co has Lowest Major Metro Rate

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The unemployment rate increased in 86 counties, decreased in five and remained the same in four.

The July 2014 rates just released show Davidson County has the state's lowest major metropolitan unemployment rate for the month at 6.3 percent, according to the Tennessee Department of Labor. That's up, however, from 6.0 in June.

Tennessee's unemployment rate for July stands at 7.1 percent. That's up from June's 6.6 revised figures.

The U.S. preliminary rate for the month is 6.2, up a tenth.
