BORDEAUX, Tenn. -- Department of Child Services officials address the riot that occurred overnight at the Bordeaux facility where nearly two dozen inmates escaped there dorms.

DCS Commissioner Jim Henry says the department will explore ways to renegotiate long-standing policies that are part of consent decree, policies that restrict the department's ability to lock the doors of the youth who are in Tennessee's three youth development centers. At this time, the youth are free to open their single-person room doors to enter common areas.

Monica Middlebrooks, Deputy Commissioner Office of Juvenile Justice said the incident was "handled as well as it could be."
